A Row-Mantic Day at Bedford (with massive apologies to Jane Austen)
IT is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single sculler in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a sweep crew. However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a rowing club, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding rowers, that he is considered as the rightful property of some one or other of their crews. Getting said single scullers to commit to a sweep crew however, appears to take quite a bit of effort.

Little Geneva Paddle
Whilst several City scullers headed to Boston for a marathon effort of 50km, Charlotte headed out to Geneva with Ely-based Rob Roy sculler, Hannah Peel, and three ex-York City rowers to prepare for the longest non-stop (non-ocean) rowing race in the world. Not one, not two, but three Boston marathons back-to-back, with 10km added to the end. You may think that 160km non-stop in a yolette (a giant coxed quad) might not sound like the most exciting way to spend your summer holidays - and you'd be right.

The Berlin Invasion
“City 3” headed out to Germany on a mission to make their last crew race a special one. We made our way there in dribs and drabs over two days all meeting together on Friday evening. James and John did it their way, and flew themselves out in John’s teeny tiny little Aeroplane

Magnificent trio Ben, Barney and Naz all brought home medals from the English Indoor Rowing Champs, times are on the Concept 2 site, here's Ben's report...On a cold and potentially very stormy day three intrepid City hopefuls set off for the English Indoor Rowing Championships. Having endured the "What? On a swimming pool?" comments from non-rowing friends, and an ungodly early Sunday morning start (up at 5am!?!), they were ready for the coming challenge.
