Juniors celebrate summer successes

The J15+ girls and boys moved from their normal sculling boats to sweep rowing in preparation for Bumps on 16 July.

With only two weeks of sweep rowing, and only one or two outings in an eight, the juniors put together a junior boys and junior girls eight to compete in the CRA Time Race. The boys had no junior opposition, so moved into the men's novice category, beating 11 crews to take the win by eight seconds. The girls not only won their junior category, but also finished as the fastest women's crew overall.

Camille Redfern was the sole City of Cambridge representative at Bedford Sprints Regatta, racing in a single for the first time. With the help of Bedford Rowing Club in finding a boat and blades, Camille made it through her heat and semi final of the WJ14 singles. In the final, Camille put in a storming race to win by 3/4 length, in a time faster than the winning WJ15, WJ16 and novice times.
