National Schools Regatta 2013

The junior squad represented the club at the National Schools Regatta, with four crews qualifying for the semi finals, and two very narrowly missing out.

The three-day regatta started with girls' J14 double scull of Camille and Ava, who coped well with tricky conditions to finish 8th overall, only 0.48 seconds from 6th place.

As the wind picked up, racing was postponed and then eventually cancelled, leaving the J15 girls unable to compete.

The conditions improved for the Saturday and Sunday.  The J16 boys' quad demonstrated the improvements they have made this year by qualifying for the semi-finals.  They were followed by Alice in the Championship Girls' Singles, who put in a gutsy race to finish 6th in the time trial.  Though she was unable to repeat this performance in the semi finals, she proved that she can hold her own against juniors who have represented Great Britain, all the more impressive given that she had not been in a single this time last year!

Sunday saw the J16 girls repeat the performance of the boys, qualifying for the semi finals of the quad category.  Jack and Jack followed their quad race in the double, finishing as the second fastest non-qualifiers.  The girls' J15 coxed quad narrowly missed out on a semi-final qualifying spot, but finished with a national ranking of 19th of 49 crews.
